Another rumour regarding the next iteration of Microsoft’s
Xbox console has arisen. This time around, gaming website IGN reports that the
new system will go on sale late in 2013.
Based on stories published by Fudzilla and SemiAccurate, the
IGN story has reportedly been corroborated by “sources close to the project”.
Speculation is that the new system will begin shipping in late October or early
November, 2013.
It is also claimed that the new console will have a GPU based
on Radeon’s 6000 series, rather than the newer 7000 series South Island GPU.
Apparently it will be similar to the Radeon HD 6670 chipset.
That equates to graphics processing six times more powerful
than the Xbox 360, and 20% more punchy than the upcoming Wii U.
While this is still in the realms of rumour, speculation is that
developers will receive development kits by August this year… and, of course,
everyone is expecting a big Xbox announcement in June, at E3 2012.
